Memorial Day

What do you remember?

Parades, flags waving, picnics, family, just being together?

I have never gone to a graveside on Memorial Day.

But I remember the days when I was in high school and the nightly news gave us dinner reports of the wounded and killed during the Vietnam War. We knew someone lost their life and families lost their loved ones every day.

Then on 9/11, it dawned on me there really are people who run into a disaster or a battle when everyone else runs out.  Counting the cost was done before….reaction just became their only choice…to give. Whatever was asked.

Sacrifice is a wonderful yet bittersweet attribute.  We so admire it in others….but don’t really want too much of it in our own lives usually.

What person in your life best exemplifies:

Their Sacrifice
